How to cook an egg in an avocado recipe.

These are super easy and fun to make.  Here is the basic way to do it and then 5 different types that I make and love.

What you need to cook eggs in an avocado.

  • 1 avocado (per person if you eat a lot)
  • sea salt
  • black pepper
  • large or extra large eggs

Optional:

  • Three cheese blend
  • Garlic
  • Bacon
  • Chili powder
  • Scallions
  • Salsa
  • Cream cheeseake

Ok, the first thing to do is preheat your oven to 400 degrees.  Now cut your avocado in half and do not take the shell off.  Take a small spoon and scoop out a little bit of the inside where the seed was so that you can get the egg to stay put.  (It’s ok if the egg runs over the top and onto the cooking sheet when you pour it in).  Now throw a dash of sea salt and a dash of ground black pepper on the avocado and in the base you combine your flavors.  My personal favorite is a little bit of chopped garlic and bacon bits.  Now crack and pour one large or extra large egg into the center of the avocado after placing it on a baking sheet.  Place the avocados in the oven at 400 degrees for 20 minutes on the middle shelf.  This is the perfect time for my oven, but you’ll need to work on your own.  When altering the recipe, put the flavors into the avocado before you add the egg.  That’s the trick.

Here are 5 ways and recipes to cook an egg in an avocado using the instructions above.

  1. Garlic and bacon bits with chili powder on top.
  2. Chili powder and a three cheese blend on top before it goes into the oven.
  3. Sea salt and black pepper.
  4. Cream cheese and salsa served on the side of any of the above.
  5. Cream cheese and chives below the egg.  (You’ll need to scoop a bit more out of the avocado for this one).

Barcelona Restaurant DC on 14th Reviews – Read Before You Go!

I have never found an even remotely good tapas restaurant in DC, including the two others on 14th street, which is why I was a bit worried when I couldn’t find any Barcelona on 14th restaurant reviews.  Regardless of finding reviews of Barcelona restaurant on 14th street, last night my friend and I went and gave it a try.  Barcelona on 14th not only kicked every other tapas restaurant in Washington DC’s butt, but they had the best service, an amazing cocktail and wine list and the servers knew everything about the menu.  Our bread baskets were full, our water always filled and when our drinks came out a bit late, they comped them.  Even if the service at Barcelona restaurant on 14th street in Washington DC was horrible, the food would have turned it into a 5 star experience!  Before I go into the food and share more pictures, here is the address and two Spanish themed aprons that you can wear while trying to prepare your own versions of traditional tapas foods.

Best food at Barcelona Restaurant in Washington DC on 14th Street

If you couldn’t tell from the image of the chanterelle mushroom tapas plate above, the food at Barcelona on 14th is amazing! That was actually our least favorite dish and the only thing we didn’t like. When I say we didn’t like it, that just means it was the only thing that wasn’t amazing. They were great, but everything else we had was absolutely amazing.

tortilla espana at barcelona on 14th

The tortilla’s de patatas or toirtilla espana at Barcelona on 14th were amazing.  Instead of serving them cold like the traditional recipe, they serve them hot and with a nice side of sour cream and chives.  This fun twist on a traditional dish is a great thing to help with the reviews of Barcelona on 14th.

sweet bourbon drink at barcelona restaurant in dc

sweet bourbon drink at barcelona restaurant in dc

This drink was absolutely amazing.  If you are going to have a drink with dinner, skip the wine and get the sweet bourbon drink that is on their house specialty cocktails.  I don’t normally drink bourbon but this cocktail was amazing.  We both had them and both went crazy over them.  If anything causes good comments or happy social media mentions for Barcelona on 14th reviews, this drink is one of the best things it has going to get your night started off amazing!

brussel sprouts and bacon at barcelona restaurant dc on 14th

brussel sprouts and bacon at barcelona restaurant dc on 14th

How can you go wrong with bacon and brussel sprouts?  The only thing wrong is that they used baby brussel sprouts so the bacon falls off and you have to dig for it on the bottom.  They also could have used a bit of sea salt on them, however they tasted amazing and we went through them within minutes.

churros and chocolate barcelona restaurant on 14th street

churros and chocolate barcelona restaurant on 14th street

If you’re going to eat at a traditional Spanish styled restaurant, you have to go with a traditional dessert like flan or Churros con Chocolate.  Not only were their churros con chocolate amazing, but both tables next to us saw them, smelled them and ordered them.  Even if you don’t have room for dessert, order these.  You will love them and if you don’t, you shouldn’t be reading this blog!  If there are any negative reviews of Barcelona on 14th, the person who wrote it is probably on something (just my opinion).   Everything there was amazing and we both loved everything.  We only have positive things to say so our Barcelona restaurant on 14th reviews are all good and we highly recommend you eat there!

Women’s apron to cook steaks in – $34.95

This floral apron may be pretty and danty, but even with it’s gorgeous magnolia flowers and beautiful red, black and white print and designs, it is also the perfect apron to cook steaks in for women.

Steaks can be messy and you can get splashed with blood, melted cheese, wine sauces, marinades and a million other things.  That’s why I love this as a perfect women’s apron for cooking steaks.  By wearing these color combinations, the women’s steak aprons are able to take most of the normal colored stains and hide them.  This way when your company comes or family sites down, your apron won’t look as messy compared to a white or other colored apron.  The red, black and white prints will help to hide all stains and help them blend in so you can look just as amazing as the steaks you’re preparing below.  That is why I love this as the perfect aprons for women to cook steaks in.

How to make a blue cheese and horseradish filet recipe

This is one of the most fun and easy recipes that I have created recently.  It only takes a few ingredients and not much prep time.  All you have to do is have a container like the one below and a lid to store it in the fridge for 24 hours (this isn’t necessary but I do it so the flavors can sink in.).

What you need to make a blue cheese and horseradish crusted filet steak.

  • 1 or 2 filets
  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • Sea salt
  • Crushed black pepper
  • Crumbled blue cheese
  • Prepared horseradish
  • Chopped garlic

The first thing to do is to pour extra virgin olive oil into a container and throw a few pinches of sea salt and pepper into it.  Now place the steaks inside the container and sprinkle some sea salt and pepper on the top of the steaks too.  In the next container mix a bunch of crumbled blue cheese, a few scoops of fresh prepared horseradish and about two tablespoons of crushed garlic and mix it all together.  Now take the steaks and place them in the container with the cheese mixture.  You can crust the cheese to the side or place it and stick it on the top of the steaks.  Now cover and set in the fridge for about 24 hours.  Take the steaks out and place them on a baking sheet in the oven at 350 degrees for about 20 to 25 minutes and they’re done.  Let cool and serve and you now have an amazing bluecheese and horseradish crusted steak.  Thank you all again for reading and please buy an apron without using a coupon code to help support this blog.  I don’t get paid unless you click my link and do not use a coupon.  =0)
