The Ultimate Zebra Print Apron – Love This!

My friends over at Flirty Aprons decided to surprise me with a fun gift.  A random package showed up at my door and inside was a brand new zebra print apron with a three tier ruffled bottom.  Not only is this black and white and fabulous all over…but it is by far the ultimate zebra print apron you will ever find.  Seriously, even my bestie Adam stole it from me when we were making the Easter cake that will be posted soon.  Pictures to come of him showing it off.

If you want to skip the whole obsession about the zebra print aprons and just want to buy a zebra print apron, well, click the image below and you’ll be taken to the store that gave me the free one. If you do hang on and read through my rant, you’ll also get to see the easter egg cake we made…our goal was to take the “egg”cess candy and make something ugly but fun with it.

roasted chicken and brussel sprouts recipe

So the other day my friend was coming over for lunch and he’s on a Paleo Diet.  I had no idea what a Paleo diet is so I ended up having to do research and found this site that defines what the heck it is, and is a resource so that everything is laid out clearly and and you can have the paleo diet made easy.  Although I don’t think I followed it exactly, I did come up with something based off of the site that uses no processed foods (except for the spices because I was too lazy to chop my own) and came up with a Paleo diet roasted chicken and brussel sprouts recipe that is amazing!

Not only does it taste great, but the prep time for this fabulous paleo friendly roasted chicken and brussel sprouts recipe is only about 5 minutes.  Then you bake it until the chicken is cooked and the brussel sprouts are the way you like them.  It’s basically a full proof and healthy winning recipe.  Here’s how you make it.  [Read more…]

Cook a Lobster Dinner for 3 for Under $10

cheap lobster dinner recipesThe other day I was at the store and decided to challenge myself. How can I cook a lobster dinner for three people for under $10. When I saw the lobster tails for $4.99 I decided let’s go for it and make a recipe for a cheap lobster dinner.

The trick with the main ingredient costing half of your budget is to find something filling and affordable, so I went with a pasta. Pasta matches great with the flavor and the different noodles can provide an awesome texture. With about $3 left I decided to go for flavors that are strong and can compliment the lobster well. BBQ Bacon Croissant Rollups Recipe.

bbq bacon and cheese croissants

What you need:

  • 1 package of premade croissant dough
  • 1 lb. of bacon
  • Your favorite bbq sauce
  • Your favorite cheese shreds
  • 1 non stick cookie sheet

Pre-heat your oven to 350 degrees or whatever it says on your premade croissant dough.  Take your non stick cookie sheet and unroll your dough into triangles.  Now take bbq sauce and pour some on the dough and spread across it.  Now take a slice of bacon and cut it into two piece with one piece about one third of the slice.  Take the longer piece and line it along the long part of the dough.  Take the smaller piece of bacon and place it across the top.  Now toss some of the cheese shreds inside and then roll them into croissants.  Now add a bit more cheese on top and bake until the dough and the bacon are both cooked thoroughly.  Raw bacon is not healthy or safe to eat.  You can always cook it a bit before adding it to your dough if you want to make sure it is thoroughly cooked.  Now let them cool and serve.

How to make stained glass eggs

Making stained glass eggs is a fun way to bond with your kids and get them to eat healthy.  They are colorful, fun to make and even more fun for adults when you turn them into stained glass wasabi deviled eggs.  Here is how to make stained glass eggs and my wasabi deviled eggs recipe.

  • hardboiled eggs
  • food coloring
  • cups, bowls or ramikins
  • mayonaise
  • wasabi
  • horseradish

Quick note, if you find a wasabi mayo you can use that, or a wasabi mustard (if you like mustard.  You can also use a wasabi horseradish sauce and go lighter on the mayo.)

Take your hardboiled eggs and crack the shells.  Place the cracked shelled eggs inside your containers with the food coloring in them.  Let everything soak for about 10 minutes and then take them out and peel off the shells.  Now slice the stained glass eggs in half and take out the yolk.  Place the yolks in a bowl with mayo, horseradish and wasabi and mix them together until it looks like egg salad.  Now scoop or pipe the mixture into the stained glass eggs and you now have a fun stained glass wasabi deviled egg.  It’s an easy and fun way to impress house guests, to get your kids to eat eggs and just fun to do for Easter.

What you need to make korean bbq chicken pizza.

  • Pizza dough
  • Korean BBQ sauce (available in almost any grocery store…get the spicy one)
  • 1 clove of garlic chopped
  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • Fine grain sea salt
  • Crushed ground black pepper
  • Buffalo mozzerella sliced
  • Sharp cheddar cheese
  • Grilled chicken breasts

The first thing to do is roll out your pizza dough and spread it across the pizza pan I mentioned above after you set your oven to 350.  Next pour on the extra virgin olive oil, a few splashes of sea salt and pepper, about a tablespoon or two of fresh chopped garlic and pour on about 3 or 4 tablespoons of the korean bbq sauce.  If you want it a bit spicier, add a couple extra tablespoons.  Now take your hand and spread it all over the pizza dough so it hits the edges.  Take the grilled chicken breasts and cut it into slices and lay it out across the sauce.  Now slice your mozzerella balls and place them on the pizza scattered and not covering the whole thing and then take your shredded cheddar cheese and sprinkle it on.  Now place the pizza on the low to middle rack of your oven and bake for 25 minutes.  Take out and let it cool for a few minutes then slice it.  Once it is cool enough to eat you are done.  It’s that easy to make korean bbq chicken pizza and it is always amazing!

3D Star Shaped Eggs – 3 Recipes for Christmas, 4th of July & More

Also, don’t forget to buy one of the fun aprons below to help support this blog so I can continue to bring you fun recipes like the 3D star shaped eggs recipe.  But don’t use a coupon code or I won’t get credit for the sale.

How to make 3D star shaped eggs.

Making 3D star shaped eggs is super fun and super easy.  You’ll need about 3 eggs per person and your favorite things to go inside.  You basically need to think about what you would put in an omelet.  Instead of cooking the eggs, laying everything inside and stuffing it with cheese, then flipping it over.  You scramble it all together and as it is cooking feed it into the star shaped cookie cutters (click this link to buy them).  Here are 3 different ways to do it including my favorite, the 3D star shaped spicy Mexican taco eggs.

1.  New Years Eggs – New years is all about white for snow and blue for new so why not have a 3D star shaped egg recipe perfect to start out a new year.  Take a few strips of bacon or use pre cooked bacon and cook it to how you like it.  Now mix it into your egg whites and start scrambling them.  Once they start to cook, pick them up and place them into the star shaped cookie cutters and push down hard so that they stay in place.

2.  Spicy 3D star shaped eggs recipe for Cinco de Mayo or taco eggs.  The first thing to do is crack three large eggs and place them in a bowl.  throw in a pinch of salt and some pepper, about a half teaspoon to a full teaspoon of chili powder and mix them together.  Now chop 1/4 of a red onion and a tablespoon of chopped garlic.  Take some extra virgin olive oil in a pan and pour in the garlic and onions.  Once they are cooking add your egg mixture.  Now when it starts to cook pick up the pieces and place it into the star shaped cookie cutters.  Now pack the eggs in and let them finish cooking.  Now serve with chedder cheese and salsa or without them.  They taste awesome either way and your kids will love these 3D star shaped eggs.

3.  This one is fun for cobb salads, bim bim bop bowls or any dish that uses eggs.   All you need to do is take your cookie cutter and make sure it is secure against the bottom of the pan.  Now pour in a little bit of extra virgin olive oil and pour the egg whites or entire egg inside.  You may want to do two or three to fill up the cookie cutter.  Cover the eggs in the star shaped cookie cutters so you have heat from all angles and when it’s done cooking you can push the 3D star shaped eggs out of the cookie cutter and serve on top of anything for a cool looking and great tasting egg with your food.

How to cook an egg in an avocado recipe.

egg in avocado recipe

egg in avocado recipe

egg in avocado recipe

egg in avocado recipe

These are super easy and fun to make.  Here is the basic way to do it and then 5 different types that I make and love.

What you need to cook eggs in an avocado.

  • 1 avocado (per person if you eat a lot)
  • sea salt
  • black pepper
  • large or extra large eggs

Optional:

  • Three cheese blend
  • Garlic
  • Bacon
  • Chili powder
  • Scallions
  • Salsa
  • Cream cheeseake

Ok, the first thing to do is preheat your oven to 400 degrees.  Now cut your avocado in half and do not take the shell off.  Take a small spoon and scoop out a little bit of the inside where the seed was so that you can get the egg to stay put.  (It’s ok if the egg runs over the top and onto the cooking sheet when you pour it in).  Now throw a dash of sea salt and a dash of ground black pepper on the avocado and in the base you combine your flavors.  My personal favorite is a little bit of chopped garlic and bacon bits.  Now crack and pour one large or extra large egg into the center of the avocado after placing it on a baking sheet.  Place the avocados in the oven at 400 degrees for 20 minutes on the middle shelf.  This is the perfect time for my oven, but you’ll need to work on your own.  When altering the recipe, put the flavors into the avocado before you add the egg.  That’s the trick.

Here are 5 ways and recipes to cook an egg in an avocado using the instructions above.

  1. Garlic and bacon bits with chili powder on top.
  2. Chili powder and a three cheese blend on top before it goes into the oven.
  3. Sea salt and black pepper.
  4. Cream cheese and salsa served on the side of any of the above.
  5. Cream cheese and chives below the egg.  (You’ll need to scoop a bit more out of the avocado for this one).
