Stackable Breakfast Recipe – This one is fun!

I had a random thought last weekend when I was making breakfast, what if I could make it stackable for fun.  The original thought was to make a breakfast sandwich without the bread, but then I ended up deciding I liked to play with it more so I made a bunch of stackable parts.

The food looks great and it’s really easy to do.  You only have one tricky part, how high can you build it!  Below you’ll find how I made this as well as get my recipe for hashbrowns.

You will need:

  • 3 small red potatoes
  • 4 eggs
  • sausage patties
  • 1 large shallot
  • 4 cloves of garlic chopped
  • 1/4 large yellow onion
  • Sea salt
  • Black pepper


The first thing you want to do is pre-heat your oven to 400 degrees and then spray a cupcake tin with a non stick spray.  Next with a mandolin, slice the potatoes, onion and shallot into a container.  Now season the mixture with the sea salt and pepper and then mix it together.


Now take the mixture and pack it into a few of the open spaces in the cupcake tin.  You want to leave room for the eggs and if you are baking another stackable layer, that as well.  The nice thing is that because you’re using a cupcake tin, everything will cook roughly the same size to make it look nice and stack easy.


Now bake for roughly 15 minutes (or until everything is cooked and the hashbrowns have begun to brown and then take it out of the oven.


Now give everyone an equal amount of stackable breakfast pieces and either let them stack them the way they want or have a stacking contest to see who can make the tallest or most fun breakfast.  You can do pyramids, vertical stacks or whatever else you can come up with.  This is a really fun breakfast and an easy one to plate as well.  It’s kid friendly, guest friendly and because you only have to put things into a cupcake tin and bake them, it’s almost foolproof.   This was a fun breakfast to make and let me know what you come up with as additional layers.
