2010 Casalforno Chianti Classica Riserva Review

This Chianti is holy crap amazing.  From the minute you open it and smell the aroma to the first taste with a huge bite, you’ll be in love.  It’s rare that I love a wine that normally needs to breath at a first sip, but this one does not disappoint.  It does start to open more as it breathes, but you don’t need to wait.  Pour, drink and get ready to open the next bottle.

The other night I was making a mushroom ravioli with my spicy italian herbs white sauce.  The recipe for that will eventually make it on here.  I was debating between a Barolo, Sangiovese or Chianti when I saw this bottle.  I got in on sale for next to nothing but also know that it is normally very expensive.  I hadn’t had it before so figured, why not.

Not only did we both fall in love with it, but it is 100% worth the money.  You get a ton of delicious berry flavors, lots of earthy woody tastes and a really nice bite.  It’ll match everything from a vegetable to meats, steaks and even the mushroom raviolis.  The earthy flavors in the wine matched it perfectly giving us a perfect complement to the meal.  I love this new Chianti and will absolutely be buying it again.  I highly recommend you give it a shot if you’re looking for a new wine to try this fall.
