Schweiger Vineyards Reviewed – The Best in Napa?

If you love Napa wines, especially the vineyards on Spring Mountain, you’ve probably been to Pride, Keenan and many others.  If you go the other way up through Napa Valley, you’ve probably done Mayacamas, Joseph Phelps and even Jarvis.  Although each has an amazing selection with unique flavors, there’s one wine that stands above the rest in our house.  That’s Schweiger Vineyards.

Last October I got to make a voyage to their vineyards (not even knowing I had been drinking their wines for years already).  We were met by a wonderful woman named Erin who walked us through the wines, did our tasting and made the experience perfect.  You can drink incredible glasses while looking over a beautiful vineyard and even get to meet a couple of wine dogs laying beside the patio.  They’ll bring you cheeses and meats while you watch the sunset and then you can top off with another worldclass wine to create the ultimate Napa experience.

If you haven’t been to Schweiger, call them now and ask for a tour with Erin Flanagen.  You won’t regret it.  So how did I get hooked even before going to the vineyard?  Simple, Schweiger wines have been a part of my life since college.

I discovered this when I started looking through all of my photos over the years.  Here are some of them below.  (As a heads up, I only have one photo of the older bottles.  You can’t really see the larger bottle label in some of the others.)

When I went to visit my dad for Thanksgiving around my 21st birthday, he opened a magnum of wine (Oddly enough it ended up being a Schweiger).  Then when he moved to Georgia, we ended up having another bottle, not even realizing it was Schweiger as well.

I went through my collection for a chardonnay and found the last remaining one in the back of my closet that I was saving and guess what, it ended up being the Schweiger chardonnay you see below.

So what causes this?  It’s simple.  Schweiger wines from Napa are easy to drink, universally loved and you can match and pair them with anything.

On Christmas we paired the chardonnay with chicken and a mango sponge cake.  During Valentine’s we paired Dedication with our bacon, lobster pasta this year.  On Christmas, we had another red with a roasted garlic and rosemary bone in ribeye.  No matter what is on our table from shrimp scampi to chicken carbonara, even our stuffed medjol dates with chorizo and maple bacon, Schweiger has a perfect pairing.  It doesn’t actually matter if you like whites or not, everyone loves their Chardonnay.

If you have a special occasion, dedicate it with dedication.  Even my partner who hates dry wines mouth dropped and wanted more.  No matter what varietal, vintage or style you choose, you can’t go wrong.  If you’re going to Napa, make sure you call Erin and set up a tasting at Schweiger.  I can almost guarantee your visit and tasting at Schweiger Vineyards will be the highlight of your trip to wine country.
